The Gila River Wild Horses roam over 300 thousand acres of Native American Reservation just north of Maricopa, Arizona, where Darcy Edl lives with her husband, Mike. On his way to work one morning, Mike spotted the horses near the road, called Darcy, and she grabbed her camera. Focusing on the early morning sun hitting the side of the brown mare, Darcy heard hoves hitting the desert floor. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw another horse charge towards the mare, so she pulled back the 600mm lens she was using and got the shot just in time. The stallion evidently needed attention or didn't want the mare getting any.
